Lucknow – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today unveiled a fleet of 87 high‑tech interceptor vehicles at Lok Bhavan, signalling a decisive step toward a digitally empowered police force in Uttar Pradesh. The combination of four‑wheel and two‑wheel machines is intended to sharpen traffic monitoring, enhance road‑safety protocols and reinforce law‑enforcement presence across the state.
Technology‑Driven Policing at the Forefront
Addressing officials and journalists, the CM traced Uttar Pradesh’s law‑and‑order journey since 2017 and reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to overhaul police operations with cutting‑edge tools. He pointed to the police commissionerate model as a structure that demands strategic planning, decisive leadership and modern equipment to foster a secure environment for growth and civic life.
Advanced Interceptor Fleet
Each newly commissioned interceptor comes fitted with sophisticated surveillance kits, GPS‑based tracking and real‑time communication links. These assets will patrol busy arterial routes, congested intersections and other high‑risk zones, feeding instant data to Integrated Command and Control Centres.
Adityanath also linked the rollout to the broader Safe City programme, noting that the command‑and‑control hubs now functional in several districts are already bolstering preventive patrols and investigative efforts.
Saluting Bravery and Service
The ceremony featured a medal presentation to police personnel who have displayed exemplary dedication. Among the recipients was the late STF Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh, posthumously honoured with the Kirti Chakra for his valor. His family accepted the award on his behalf.
The event also marked the launch of former DGP Prakash Singh’s memoir Sangharsh, a candid chronicle of police reforms and his decades‑long tenure on the force.
Road‑Safety Remains a Priority
Highlighting the ongoing challenge of traffic fatalities, the chief minister stressed that technology‑enabled enforcement, paired with vigilant monitoring, is essential to save lives. Deploying the 87 interceptors forms a cornerstone of the state’s broader strategy to modernise traffic management and safeguard commuters.
Through these initiatives, Uttar Pradesh aims to set a benchmark for contemporary policing, marrying traditional courage with digital precision.
