Dhanapur, Chandauli. In the early hours of Wednesday night, a house that appeared to be well‑guarded in Birna village was violently ransacked. A group of intruders breached the locked doors and made off with approximately ₹1.6 lakh in cash along with several pieces of gold jewellery.

The property belongs to Bhanu Maurya. The second floor is still under construction, so the family continues to live in their older home while the new building remains sealed each night.

Following their routine, the family secured the fresh construction before retiring to the older house. Sometime during the night, unknown perpetrators forced their way into the supposedly secure premises and rummaged through the rooms.

Cash and Gold Jewellery Vanish

When the family returned on Thursday morning, they discovered displaced furniture and items scattered across the floor. A quick check revealed that ₹1.6 lakh in cash had disappeared, together with a gold chain, a ring and several other ornaments.

The victims promptly reported the incident to the local police station (PRV). Officers arrived swiftly, cordoned off the area and began collecting forensic evidence.

Police Scrutinise Surveillance Footage

Investigators examined the CCTV cameras installed around the property. Preliminary analysis shows that the break‑in was captured on video, and the recordings are now being closely studied to identify the thieves.

Authorities are also reviewing additional clues to understand how the burglars managed to bypass the locked doors and whether they possessed prior knowledge of the house’s temporary vacancy.

Residents Demand Better Security Measures

The incident has raised alarm among neighbouring households, who note a spate of similar thefts in recent weeks. Villagers are urging the police to increase night‑patrols and enhance overall security in the locality.

Local leaders have called for stronger preventive actions, especially during hours when homes are unoccupied, to deter future break‑ins.

Police continue their investigation, working to trace the suspects and recover the stolen cash and jewellery.
