Gruesome Scene Uncovered in Sutha Village
In the early hours of Monday, villagers from Sutha – which lies within the Khudaganj police circle – arrived at their local shrine to discover a nightmare: two men who tended the temple had been slain and their bodies set ablaze.
Who Were the Victims?
Gopaldas, a long‑standing resident of Azizganj, had been serving at the Sutha temple for several years. Sharing the duties for about a month was Baba Bihari Das, a caretaker from a neighboring sanctuary.
Prime Suspect Emerging
Preliminary inquiries point to Sumit Singh, a local who was released from incarceration roughly a month ago. According to neighbors, Singh often visited the two caretakers and voiced a wish to live on the temple premises, a demand that ignited a series of confrontations.
Police say an argument erupted on the night of the killings over Singh’s claim to the property. Since that evening, Singh has disappeared.
Community Reaction
Residents describe Singh as a person with a criminal record and a history of substance abuse. Many kept their distance and reportedly opposed his return to the village after his release.
Law‑Enforcement Response
Superintendent of Police Saurabh Dixit confirmed that Singh’s name surfaced early in the probe. Three dedicated police teams have been mobilized to locate him, while a broader investigation into the double homicide continues.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are examining every possible motive, from the dispute that turned violent to the circumstances that led to the bodies being burned. Further updates will be provided as the hunt for the suspect advances.
