Satna, Madhya Pradesh – A disturbing episode of assault and intimidation involving a 19‑year‑old college student has emerged in Satna. According to the police report, four young women lured the student to a remote field, physically attacked her, and recorded the entire episode. The attackers allegedly demanded that she become friends with a particular male student, threatening to circulate the video if she refused.
The alleged incident took place on 6 August, but it only came to public attention more than a month later when the video started circulating on Instagram and WhatsApp. The victim approached the Kolgawan police station to file a complaint.
According to the FIR, an acquaintance invited the student to a market under the pretext of work. Once there, the acquaintance took her on a scooter to a secluded field where three other girls were already waiting. Upon arrival, the four women verbally abused and physically assaulted the student.
The complaint states that the girls were pressuring the victim to establish a friendship and communicate with a specific boy. When she declined, they beat her and forced her to apologise to the boy during a video call.
Police Action After the Video Went Viral
The student claims the assailants threatened to upload the footage if she disclosed the incident. Despite their warning, the clip eventually spread across social media platforms, prompting the victim to involve the authorities.
Taking cognizance of the viral video, the Kolgawan police opened an investigation and, on Saturday, registered a case against the four accused under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 296(b), 115(2), 351(3) and 3(5).
